Marley competed in the Exposure #26: MMA DJ Battle in Asheville. It was held at Scandals on July 29th and had a healthy turn out. Marley went up against several DJs and was… Victorious!
It wasn’t your normal DMC style battle. It was a 10 minutes mix routine. Pretty sweet. I grabbed the rules for the battle off the facebook event page and put them below. Seems like a fresh set up.
This was third installment of the battle series. Apparently, they’re doing more and then putting the winners against each other in a big tournament of champions. Marley will obviously be representing there. We’ll keep you posted when it’s going down so you come out and support.
If ya see him, congratulate him! We’re stoked.
Rules for the Battle:
* The 10 minute mixoff is a free for all, you can play whatever you want. Whoever rocks the crowd the best while showcasing the most skill on the decks is who we are looking for to win
* The event will be judged by a 4-5 judge panel (NO CROWD JUDGING!) which will be compiled of some big name DJs from across NC. They will be judging via a points system which will be broken down into several categories and then tallying that for an overall score to determine the winner of each competition.
* The competition setup will be: 2 Technics 1200s + 1 Rane TTM-56 mixer (and serato attached for the mixoff of course)

So we recently got back from a hella sick trip to L.A. thanks to Native Instruments. NI flew us out to shoot some videos using their equipment (Maschine, Traktor and the Kontrol X1) at Freak City. Thanks to good timing we got a chance to play the legendary Low End Theory with Daddy Kev, Gaslamp Killer and D-Styles. Marley has blessed us all with an excellent take on the journey. Epic.
Also, check out the interview and performance we did at Huskey Radio below.
We recently added our newest album Until Then to two new music sites.
We’ve decided to make Bandcamp our primary source for digital downloads of our material. You can stream, download and get lyrics of your favorite Mr. Invisible songs. It’s also got some pretty sweet visualizers! Check it out…
The other, Soundcloud, allows you to listen to our music, download free songs/mixes and make comments. We’re planning on adding unreleased and rare material here so keep your ears peeled.
About 10 years ago, we met Mr. Dibbs in a parking lot in Charlotte before one of his shows. We had spent the week before recording our first material to specifically hand off to him and get his impression. Since then we’ve shared the stage (with Dominant 7), chilled in Cincinnati (Scribble Jam) and become pretty damn good friends. This will be the first time we’ll share a bill as Mr. Invisible with him… Much debauchery is expected.
For more info check out the Milestone‘s event page.
Mr. Invisible, Marley Carroll, and The Good Earth Project all made the cut for the What.cd Vol 4 comp. This was a contest of 100 incredibly talented people with very musically minded judges. Out of the 21 Tracks that were chosen, three of them are repping Charlotte, hip hop and the Mr. I crew to the fullest! Once it’s released, if it’s allowed, we’ll make it available to download for free on the site somewhere.

Last night we successfully recorded 7 new videos for YouTube. The first video we recorded was one of Marley glitching “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” by Jay-Z. Its TOO sick. After that, Marley and Me (haha) recorded the “Break It Down” routine. We’ve been doing that for about a year now so that was pretty easy. I think we got it in the first couple of takes. The last video we did was of the full routine of “Bring it On” with all three of us. We were a little worried about how Ill’s mic was gonna come through, but I think it’ll turn out pretty dope.
After we got done with “Bring It On”, I recorded 4 videos that I commissioned for a high school just out of Chicago. The main theme of the video’s is Brooklyn. I used songs from Biggie, Jay-Z and the Crooklyn Dodgers. Keep in mind I made these for high schoolers so they’re not super hard. Non the less, it’s still good music. I might even post the tutorials I did for the kids on YouTube also. We’ll see.
Keep your eyes peeled to the YouTube channel!
